About the event

Learn how to grow a range of tasty berries and vines in the garden and in pots, including strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and their hybrids, grapes, passionfruit, kiwifruit, goji berries, as well as some native bush foods!

This training session will cover:

  • their growing and feeding requirements,
  • harvesting, pruning/maintenance,
  • and protection from pests.

It will also include instruction on propagation – how to make more plants from existing ones for free! This is a 2-hour workshop which includes a 15-minute questions and answers session at the end.

Angelo Eliades is a presenter, trainer and writer in the areas of sustainable gardening and permaculture. He has worked as a horticulturist in the garden nursery industry over the last ten years, writes for a major Australian gardening magazine, has a demonstration food forest garden in Melbourne’s inner suburbs, and runs the educational website Deep Green Permaculture.

Waring (wombat) is the coldest, wettest Wurundjeri season, spanning from April - July, where mushrooms and moths flourish and wombats roam in the afternoon sun.

Food Justice means no body is turned away for lack of funds. If you are unable to pay for a ticket, you can use the code 'FOODJUSTICE' to access a free ticket.

If you are in a position to subsidise one of these places, you can buy a solidarity 'Pay it Forward' ticket.

(Sustain: the Australian Food Network is a health promotion charity with Deductible Gift Recipient status, so buying a pay it forward ticket is tax deductible. We will provide you with a tax invoice for that purpose.)
