About the event

Eat it, or save it?

At the Community Seed Library Workshop, aspiring urban farmers & gardeners will learn the craft and theories of seed saving, including using seeds as currency, builidng community exchange opportunities, and increasing biodiversity.

The workshop will start with a deep-dive into the importance of seed saving, and then teach participants the basics of how to save seeds, as well as storage & sowing. Attendees will then have the opportunity to select, illustrate and annotate their own seed packets to take home, with newfound confidence in establishing their own household or community seed library.

Guests of this workshop will also be served a light afternoon tea snack prepared with produce from peri-urban market garden, Feed You Farm, including the delicious Oakhill's garden lemonade.

AUDIENCE: This workshop will inspire both youth and adults, with content and activities suited to all age groups.

TICKET COST: $50. As an inclusive event, we also offer subsidized community tickets for local residents facing barriers to participation (50% concession discount.) Whilst course content is geared towards youth and adults, children 12 or under are still encouraged to participate and can attend, free of charge, in the company of a guardian (18 years or over).
